“My obsession for old cars sets the need to repair and reproduce parts; after all, you cannot expect to get a widget for a 1914 from the dealer today. This is complemented by my passion for machinery and tools.
Some may think that my treasure chest of toys is extensive; but there’s nothing like being self-sufficient.”
Meet my Dad, Bill Tecco
I have never met someone so passionate and committed to anything as my father is to the craft of classic car restoration. With a garage larger than our house, we could always find him tinkering away on his machines, dog by his side (Bert, then Buddy, and now Baxter). Our family vacations usually revolved around car tours (put on by the AACA) or car shows (like Hershey or the ACD Festival) in the MidWest. Some of the most exciting times were at auctions, where we would occasionally pick up a car that my dad would then spend years restoring, until every nut and bolt was true to the original.
As a kid and teenager, I oscillated between thinking my dad's passion was cool and declaring it downright embarrassing ("your hood ornament collection in our living room is not normal!"). Now that I'm an adult, I've decided it's undoubtedly cool. So I wanted to create an archive of his garage, and capture everything short of the smell of gasoline. The sound of the hand-cranked electric starter, the shine of the hood ornament in the sun, and of course his endless stories behind these metal beauties. So I tapped one of the most creative people I know, my cousin, the filmmaker Tyler Pina. Tyler gets all the credit for the amazing footage and photography on this site, and I am so grateful for his collaboration.
We hope you enjoy my dad's garage as much as we enjoyed putting this together. I love you, Dad!
